For what seemed like a long time, Prince Avalos considered the acceptance letter, the metal case and the strange shimmering metal-like disks that no longer contained the information it once did. True to the warning, the data upon them had faded into obscurity after he'd finished reading its contents. The weight of his new future upon his shoulders kept him sober and thoughtful. There was not much to be done in preparation for his new life. There was no need to hurry to gather belongings or inform loved ones of his departure. For one, his belongings were not allowed to come with him. For another, he had no loved ones that could care, even if he were allowed to tell. The letter came. Prince Avalos was trying hard to remain composed and dignified as he carefully unsealed the letter from its envelope. Calm eyes drifted over the page from top to bottom, and not just once. Could it really be true? Looking at the strange metal briefcase that accompanied the letter in his hands, he knew it was not a hoax. He knew he wasn't dreaming. For in that very case lay his future and that of his children.
